Montaza Palace is a royal palace complex on the Mediterranean coast in Alexandria, Egypt, begun in 1892 when Khedive Abbas II built the Salamlek as a hunting lodge. King Fuad I added the larger Al-Haramlek Palace starting in 1932, blending Ottoman and Florentine Renaissance styles, and the surrounding gardens and beach became a favored royal family retreat.
